Thea Maloney is the mind behind Blanket Swimming, a project that has been active for ten years and has an impressive collection of around one hundred albums and twenty EPs under its belt. "Now As Ever" is the latest effort by the American artist, who is also  the owner  of Asonu, an experimental netlabel  suspended between drones and field recordings . It is a 17-minute minimalist drone loop , expressed through sound synthesis and transfigured choirs, dilated in time and repeated with a velvety tone. The evolutions are microscopic and the immersion is deep, like in ocean waters. A touch more in the mix, perhaps a bit too mellow, would have made it a true pearl of the abyss, but it remains an interesting work nonetheless.
